Privacy Policy — Form Time Machine

The short version

Form Time Machine stores the text you type into web forms in your own browser, on your own computer. It does not send that text anywhere, because it has nowhere to send it — the extension contains no networking code and there is no associated server or service.

What is collected

Form Time Machine saves the following, locally:

• The text you type into text inputs, textareas and rich-text editors on web pages
• The address and title of the page the text was typed on
• The label or name of the field, so the entry can be identified later
• The times the entry was created and last changed
• Your extension settings

What is never collected

The extension deliberately excludes fields that are likely to contain secrets. It does not save:

• Password fields
• Credit and debit card numbers — excluded both by field name and by validating the digits themselves
• CVV, CVC and card security codes
• One-time passcodes and two-factor authentication fields
• Bank account numbers, routing numbers, IBANs and sort codes
• Social security numbers, national identity numbers and tax identifiers
• API keys, access tokens, recovery phrases and seed phrases

It also does not collect browsing history, pages you visit without typing on, analytics, usage statistics, device identifiers, IP addresses, or any personal profile.

You can additionally exclude any site entirely in the extension's settings, in which case nothing on that site is saved at all.

Where the data is stored

In your browser's local IndexedDB storage on the device where the extension is installed. Your extension settings — not your saved text — may sync between your own Chrome profiles if you have Chrome Sync enabled, using Chrome's built-in storage.sync mechanism. Saved text is never synced and never leaves the device it was typed on.

Who the data is shared with

No one. Data is not transmitted, sold, rented, traded, shared with third parties, used for advertising, used to build profiles, or used for creditworthiness or lending decisions. There are no third-party services, SDKs, analytics providers or trackers in this extension.

How long the data is kept

By default, entries are deleted automatically 30 days after they were last changed. You can change this to anything from one day to indefinitely in settings. Entries you explicitly pin are kept until you delete them. When the number of stored entries exceeds your configured maximum, the oldest unpinned entries are removed first.

Your control over the data

At any time, from the extension's settings page, you can:

• Export everything to a JSON file
• Delete any individual entry
• Delete everything permanently
• Pause saving entirely
• Exclude specific sites

Uninstalling the extension removes all of its stored data from your browser.

Children

Form Time Machine is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a revised date above. Any change that affects what is collected or where it goes will also be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures in the same release.
